Publication Ethics

This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process of Journal of Sharia and Local Traditions (JSLT), including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher, CV Alun Indonesia. This statement is based on COPE’s (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Section A: Publication and Authorship

All submitted manuscripts are subject to a strict peer-review process conducted by at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.
The review process applies a blind peer-review system.
The review process considers relevance, originality, significance, clarity, readability, language, and scientific contribution.
Editorial decisions may include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.
Authors who are requested to revise and resubmit their manuscripts are not guaranteed acceptance after revision.
Rejected manuscripts will not be reviewed again.
Acceptance of a manuscript is subject to legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
Manuscripts must not be published or submitted simultaneously to another publication.

Section B: Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works.
Authors must confirm that the manuscript has not been published previously.
Authors must confirm that the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal or publisher.
Authors must participate actively in the peer-review process.
Authors are responsible for correcting or retracting significant errors in published works.
All authors listed in the manuscript must have significantly contributed to the research.
Authors must ensure that all data presented are accurate, authentic, and valid.
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Authors must properly acknowledge all sources cited in the manuscript.
Authors must promptly inform the editors if errors are discovered in their published work.

Section C: Reviewers’ Responsibilities

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts under review.
Reviews should be conducted objectively without personal criticism of the authors.
Reviewers should provide clear comments supported by constructive arguments.
Reviewers should identify relevant published works not cited by the authors.
Reviewers should inform the Editor-in-Chief of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works known to them.
Reviewers must not review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist due to personal, institutional, or professional relationships with the authors or related institutions.

Section D: Editors’ Responsibilities

Editors have full authority and responsibility to accept or reject manuscripts.
Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal publication.
Editors should consider the needs of authors and readers in improving publication quality.
Editors should ensure the integrity of the academic record.
Editors should publish corrections or retractions when necessary.
Editors should consider research funding sources in the evaluation process.
Editorial decisions must be based solely on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Editors must preserve reviewer anonymity.
Editors should ensure that all published research complies with internationally accepted ethical standards.
Editors should take appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct, whether before or after publication.
Editors must avoid conflicts of interest involving authors, reviewers, editorial board members, or publishing staff.
