Peer Review Process

Authors submit their manuscripts to the Journal of Sharia and Local Traditions (JSLT) through the available online journal system (OJS). All submitted manuscripts must align with the journal's focus and scope and strictly follow the established author guidelines. Manuscripts must possess novelty and a relevant scholarly contribution to the interaction between Islamic law and local traditions.

Manuscript Evaluation Stages:

1
Plagiarism Screening:

All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. Editors will perform a similarity check using Turnitin or similar software before the manuscript is processed further.

2
Initial Review by Editor-in-Chief (EiC):

The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial screening regarding the topic's suitability and the basic feasibility of the manuscript for further evaluation. Manuscripts deemed outside the scope of the journal will be desk-rejected immediately.

3
Technical & Completeness Evaluation:

The EiC examines the completeness of the submission files based on the author guidelines, compliance with the journal template formatting, adequacy of reference citations, degree of manuscript originality, and the quality of language used.

4
Double-Blind Peer Review Process:

Manuscripts that meet the basic requirements will be sent to at least two expert reviewers through a double-blind peer review process where the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Manuscripts that do not meet the initial technical standards will be returned to the authors for improvement.

Reviewers will provide constructive scientific feedback to enhance the quality of the manuscript. The final decision recommendations include:

Accept submission as is
Minor revisions required
Major revisions required
Decline submission
5
Re-Evaluation (Re-review):

Based on the review results, for manuscripts that receive a major revision decision, the revised manuscript submitted by the author may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second-round evaluation.

6
Publication & Open Access:

Articles that have been officially accepted will enter the final stages of copyediting and proofreading before being published online periodically through our open access system.

JSLT is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, objective, and timely peer review process to ensure the quality of scholarly publishing.
